John is Graduate of the 2014 San Clemente Leadership Program, current chair of the Coastal Advisory Committee, San Clemente Triton Water Polo Club age group coach, President of the San Clemente Lifeguard and Junior Guard Foundation, former City of San Clemente ocean lifeguard & lifeguard supervisor, and former president of the San Clemente chapter of US Surf Lifesaving Association (USLA).
John graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from USC in 1989. For the past 26 years John has worked as a consulting mechanical engineer and environmental scientist. This experience includes specializing in a wide variety of environmental compliance, sustainability and restoration projects/programs. In addition, John has significant consulting engineering and project management experience in the areas of design, development, and construction of large infrastructure projects as well as waste-water and contaminated soil/water treatment systems. Which includes substantial stakeholder represented experience with the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) as well as Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies.
John has a longstanding and ongoing connection with San Clemente dating back to the late 1960’s. He grew up on the beaches of Southern California and notably, he is a former City of San Clemente ocean lifeguard & lifeguard supervisor. John met his wife here 25 years ago while driving the lifeguard jeep next to lifeguard headquarters. Kris and John have 4 sons. The older three sons have worked for the City of San Clemente as Lifeguards as well. Our youngest son is 10 years old, is a junior lifeguard and plays water polo for the San Clemente Triton water polo club.
